Whistler in November: What's Open, Snow Conditions & Things to Do
Whistler in November 2026, week by week: Cornucopia and the Writers Festival early on, the Sea to Sky Gondola closure from November 16 to 26, skiing from November 20 and Peak 2 Peak from November 25, and Winterlight at the end of the month.
November changes Whistler more than any other month. Early on, the resort is deep in the shoulder season. By the last weekend, skiing, Peak 2 Peak, the Sea to Sky Gondola and Whistler Olympic Park can all be running on winter schedules.
Quick answer: Pick your week before you decide on November. Come November 5–15 for food and culture, and from November 27 for the widest choice of winter activities. The middle of the month is quiet, and several mountain attractions are closed.
From Vancouver, the From Vancouver: Whistler, Sea to Sky Gondola & Shannon Falls day trip (4.7/5 from more than 1,400 reviews, from about $121) runs all month. From November 16 to 26, while the gondola is closed for maintenance, it becomes an 8-hour day with eagle viewing along the Squamish River in place of the ride.

- museums and galleries
- the Sea to Sky Gondola, open daily 9 a.m.–5 p.m.

The trickiest few days of the month:
- Peak 2 Peak closed

- Whistler Olympic Park not yet open
The reasons to come are food, culture, the spa, a quiet Village and shoulder-season prices.

The Sea to Sky Gondola stays closed until November 27.

Potentially running:
- Whistler Blackcomb
- Peak 2 Peak
- the Sea to Sky Gondola

For a first winter trip to Whistler in November, this is the best window.
How much snow to expect
The Whistler Village station averages about 66 cm of snowfall in November. That does not mean 66 cm lies in the Village all month: the average snow depth on the ground is about 7 cm, and only around 11 days have 5 cm or more.
The higher mountains can be fully wintry while the Village is rainy or slushy. Our guide to does Whistler have snow in November compares the Village and the mountain through February.
Skiing
Whistler Blackcomb’s target opening day is November 20, 2026, subject to snow and operations.
Opening day does not mean every run and lift is open. The early-season terrain grows as conditions allow.
Peak 2 Peak
- November 1–24: closed
- From November 25: winter sightseeing scheduled, subject to operations
Sightseeing tickets are sold by Whistler Blackcomb, not by the tour sites. Our Peak 2 Peak tickets, prices and hours guide has the winter ticket details.
Sea to Sky Gondola
- November 1–15: open daily, 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
- November 16–26: closed for annual maintenance
- From November 27: open again, daily 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
The closure changes the Vancouver sightseeing tours that normally include the gondola. Some run a shorter day without it, and others stop for the season, so check what your tour includes on your date. Our Sea to Sky Gondola tickets, prices and hours guide has the full calendar.
Reasons to come early in November
Cornucopia
Whistler’s food and drink festival runs November 5–15, 2026, its 30th year, with tastings, dinners, seminars and parties.
Whistler Writers Festival
November 5–8, 2026, with readings, workshops and author events.
The Village and its culture
The Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre (Tuesday to Sunday), the Audain Art Museum (Thursday to Monday), the Whistler Museum, restaurants and quiet Village time.
Scandinave Spa
The outdoor baths at Scandinave Spa Whistler are a good use of a cold, grey day.
Ziplining
Ziptrek runs through the shoulder season from the Village, so it is one of the few adventures that works in mid-November too. The Whistler: Ziplining Experience (4.9/5 from 495 reviews, about $134) takes about three hours. Our Whistler zipline tours guide compares the options.
Reasons to come late in November
Skiing and snowboarding
If the mountains open as targeted.
Peak 2 Peak
The best mountain option if you do not ski.
Whistler Olympic Park
Planned to open November 27 for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. The Vancouver: Whistler Olympic Park Evening Snowshoeing/Skiing trip has only three reviews so far, all 5/5 (about $99), and its listed dates start in late December, so check availability before you plan November around it.
Whistler Winterlight
November 27–29, 2026 in Olympic Plaza. Entry is free; some activities, such as the Ferris wheel and skating, cost extra. It gives the last weekend a festive feel.
A Vancouver day trip in November, by date
November 1–15
Shannon Falls → Sea to Sky Gondola → Whistler
November 16–19
A Whistler day built around food and culture. The gondola is closed and the ski lifts have not opened.
November 20–26
Go straight to Whistler, and ride Peak 2 Peak if it is running.
November 27–30
Both versions work: the Sea to Sky Gondola and Whistler, or a winter day in Whistler.
The Westcoast Sightseeing Whistler, Sea to Sky Gondola & Shannon Falls day trip covers every one of these dates, with the eagle-viewing stop in place of the gondola from November 16 to 26. Our Whistler winter tours page lists the other tours running this month.
What to pack
- a waterproof, insulated jacket
- warm layers
- waterproof shoes or winter boots
- gloves
- a hat
- soles with good grip on ice
In November you mostly need to stay dry. Extreme cold is rarely the problem.
Winter tires
Cars on the Sea to Sky Highway (Highway 99) need legal winter tires from October 1 to March 31.
If mountain driving worries you, take a tour or the bus. Our guide to Vancouver to Whistler by bus, tour, car or private transfer compares them.
November vs October
October is better for fall colors and outdoor activities at lower elevations; see our Whistler in October guide.
November is better for food festivals, the first proper snow and the start of winter late in the month.
November vs December
December is easier if you want a full winter holiday with snow in the Village. Our Whistler in December guide compares early December with Christmas week.
November suits you better if you like the change of season, early-season prices and Cornucopia.
