Vancouver to Whistler Bus: Routes, Stops and Tickets

Epic Rides and YVR Skylynx compared stop by stop: where each bus leaves from in Vancouver and at YVR, where it arrives in Whistler, 2026 fares, luggage rules and which ticket to buy.

Updated October 2026

For most travelers, the bus from Vancouver to Whistler is easier than renting a car. Two scheduled operators run the route: Epic Rides from downtown Vancouver, and YVR Skylynx from downtown and from Vancouver International Airport (YVR). Both take about 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours and drop you at Gateway Loop, a short walk from Whistler Village.

  • Epic Rides is the simplest low-cost ride from downtown: CAD 33.50 one way, luggage and skis free.
  • Skylynx is the one to take from YVR, and it sells more fare types: Standard, Flexible, Express and Executive.
  • Whistler Shuttle is another airport service, aimed at travelers who want to be dropped near their hotel.
  • If you want sightseeing stops such as Shannon Falls or the Sea to Sky Gondola, book a tour: a transfer bus does not stop at them.

Quick answer: From downtown, compare Epic Rides (CAD 33.50) and the Skylynx Standard bus (CAD 32) by departure time. From the airport, take Skylynx (CAD 55 Standard). Buy the Flexible fare if your flight or dates could change, because Standard Skylynx tickets cannot be changed or refunded.

Fares are from yvrskylynx.com/prices and epicrides.ca, checked October 2026. Skylynx children aged 6 to 12 pay half the adult fare, and under-6s ride free.

On Viator you can book two of these: the Skylynx bus from Vancouver city centre from $34 one way, rated 4.7 from 367 reviews, and the Skylynx bus from Vancouver Airport from $57, rated 4.6 from 383 reviews. Epic Rides and the other Skylynx fares are sold only on the operators’ own sites.

Other Experiences

Other experiences you might enjoy

If you would rather stop on the way, more to book along the Sea to Sky Highway: tours with Shannon Falls and the Sea to Sky Gondola, and ziplines and helicopter flights once you reach Whistler Village.

Epic Rides

Epic Rides runs one route: downtown Vancouver to Whistler and back, non-stop. It is a good choice if you are staying downtown and do not need the airport.

What you get:

  • a direct service with no stops on the way, about 1 hour 45 minutes
  • CAD 33.50 one way or CAD 44 return
  • no extra charge for luggage, skis or snowboards, and bikes free in summer
  • pickup at Burrard Station (the operator lists 1088 Melville Street) and drop-off at Gateway Loop in Whistler

Autumn timetable use case

An early departure from Vancouver and an evening bus back can give you about 8 to 9 hours in Whistler, depending on the timetable on your date. That makes the bus a strong day-trip option for anyone who wants the village and the mountains more than the stops on the way.

Epic luggage

Epic Rides does not charge for luggage, skis or snowboards, and says there is no maximum luggage allowance “within reason.” Bikes ride free in summer. That is one reason skiers, snowboarders and cyclists like the service.

Epic changes/cancellations

With an Epic Rides account you can make unlimited free changes up to 8 hours before departure. Changes made without an account cost extra, so create the account when you book. The cancellation terms are on a separate policy page: read them before you pay if your plans could move.

Skylynx

YVR Skylynx serves:

  • YVR airport
  • downtown Vancouver
  • Squamish, on the Standard service
  • Whistler (Gateway Loop)
  • Whistler Creekside, by reservation only, from the bus stop outside the Legends Hotel

The summer and fall 2026 timetable (18 April to 21 November) has seven departures a day from downtown Vancouver, the first at 8:00 a.m., and eight back from Whistler, the last Standard bus at 7:00 p.m. The winter timetable runs from 22 November 2026 to 19 April 2027. Its evening Standard buses leave Whistler at 7:00 p.m. Monday to Thursday and 8:00 p.m. Friday to Sunday, and a daily 2:45 a.m. Executive bus reaches downtown Vancouver at 4:45 a.m.

Standard vs Flexible

Standard tickets are non-refundable and cannot be changed. Flexible tickets can be refunded or changed up to 24 hours before departure, for CAD 3 to 4 more from downtown and CAD 4 more from YVR.

Buy Flexible if:

  • you are connecting from a flight
  • weather could change your plans
  • your dates are not fixed

Express

Skylynx Express runs straight to Whistler without the downtown and Squamish stops, so it saves time after a long flight. From downtown it costs CAD 37 one way. The airport Express fare is listed inconsistently on the Skylynx prices page, so check it at checkout.

Executive

Executive gives you a more comfortable seat on the same road, from CAD 50 downtown and CAD 85 from YVR. Every Executive seat is sold as a Flexible ticket.

YVR pickup

Airport buses leave from the bus area near International Arrivals. Check the exact bay and the current instructions on your ticket before you land.

Downtown pickup

Epic Rides leaves from Burrard Station. Skylynx also picks up downtown, but its stop is not necessarily the same curb, so do not assume “Burrard” means the same pole for every operator. Check the stop printed on your ticket.

Whistler arrival

Both operators arrive at Gateway Loop, beside Whistler Village and the Whistler Visitor Centre. From there it is a few minutes on foot to the village stroll and the Whistler Village Gondola.

Luggage and skis

Both operators carry ski equipment, but the rules differ:

Epic RidesSkylynx
BagsNo extra charge, no maximum “within reason”Two pieces free, then CAD 10 each
Skis or snowboardFreeFirst set free, then CAD 10 each
BikesFree in summerFirst bike free (boxed or bagged), then CAD 10 each

If you travel with a lot of gear, compare the luggage policy before the fare.

Delayed flights

Skylynx is the natural choice from YVR because it picks up at the airport itself. Its prices page does not set out a missed-connection policy, so ask Skylynx (+1 604-326-1616) what happens if your flight is late, and buy the Flexible fare if a delay would leave you rebooking. Leave a realistic buffer after an international arrival either way.

Day trip: bus vs tour

Bus

Best when you want time in Whistler: about 8 to 9 hours in the village if you take an early bus up and an evening bus back.

Guided tour

Best when you want the Sea to Sky stops. The Whistler, Sea to Sky Gondola & Shannon Falls day trip by Westcoast Sightseeing, from $121 and rated 4.7 from more than 1,400 reviews, stops at Shannon Falls, includes the gondola ticket and gives you about three hours in Whistler. From 16 to 26 November 2026, while the gondola is closed for maintenance, it runs a shorter day of about eight hours without it.

So the choice is between more hours in Whistler on the bus and more sights on the way with a tour.

Can the bus stop at Sea to Sky Gondola?

Not as a sightseeing stop. The Skylynx Standard bus stops in Squamish, but a Squamish town stop is not the gondola, and Epic Rides does not stop at all. Our guide to the Sea to Sky Gondola from Vancouver without a car covers the ways to get there.

Can it stop at Shannon Falls?

No. Transfer coaches are not hop-on sightseeing buses. To see the falls on the way, take a tour or drive; our Shannon Falls from Vancouver guide has the options.

Peak 2 Peak day trip

A direct bus is one of the better ways to ride Peak 2 Peak from Vancouver, because you spend most of the day on the mountains instead of at stops on Highway 99. Check the season first: Peak 2 Peak is closed between the summer and winter seasons, and it is scheduled to return for winter on November 25, 2026. Our Peak 2 Peak Gondola guide has tickets and hours.

Ski day from Vancouver

The winter timetables usually include early departures that get you to Whistler in time to ski. Taking the bus means you skip:

  • mountain driving
  • Whistler parking
  • keeping a rental car all day

Winter bus vs driving

If you are uncomfortable driving on snow or ice, the coach is the low-stress choice; our guide to bus vs tour vs driving in winter compares all three. Highway 99 still has winter delays, but you are not the one driving.

Booking advice

Book early for:

  • Fridays and Sundays
  • holidays
  • Christmas and New Year
  • powder weekends
  • major events

Popular departures sell out on these dates.

Return vs two one-way tickets

A return fare is cheaper than two singles on the same route (CAD 44 against 2 × CAD 33.50 on Epic Rides). If your trip ends somewhere other than where it started, though, you need two one-way tickets, for example:

YVR → Whistler → downtown Vancouver

FAQ

How long is the bus from Vancouver to Whistler?

About 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours from downtown, depending on the operator, the service and traffic.

Is there a direct bus from YVR to Whistler?

Yes. Skylynx picks up at the airport, and its Express service runs to Whistler without the downtown and Squamish stops.

Can I bring skis on the bus?

Yes. Epic Rides carries skis and snowboards free, and Skylynx carries the first set free, then charges CAD 10 for each extra item.
