Peak 2 Peak Gondola Whistler: Tickets, Prices, Hours & Visitor Guide
Plan your Peak 2 Peak Gondola visit in Whistler: current ticket prices, operating dates, ride time, the glass-bottom cabins and how long you need.
The Peak 2 Peak Gondola is not the gondola that carries you out of Whistler Village.
First, you ride either the Whistler Village Gondola or the Blackcomb Gondola up the mountain. Then you board Peak 2 Peak, which spans 4.4 km between Whistler and Blackcomb mountains.
The crossing takes about 11 minutes. Its longest unsupported span is roughly 3.024 km, and at the highest point the cabin sits about 436 meters above Fitzsimmons Valley.
Quick verdict: Peak 2 Peak is worth doing if you have at least half a day in Whistler and visibility is good. Do not think of it as an 11-minute ride; think of it as access to a wider two-mountain sightseeing day.

Winter access works differently from summer, because the mountain is operating as a ski resort.
Can you ride both ways?
Yes, during normal sightseeing operation. Summer products have historically allowed repeated Peak 2 Peak crossings during the day before your final descent.
How much time do you need?
2 hours
The bare minimum: the ride up, the crossing, quick views and the return.
3–4 hours
Much better: both mountain areas, viewpoints, a short walk and food.
5–6 hours
A good summer sightseeing day, with hiking and optional high-mountain extras.
Full day
Worth it if alpine hiking and photography are the main goal.
If you have a spare couple of hours in the village as well, the Ziptrek Ziplining Experience starts with a ride up the Whistler Village Gondola and zips back down with views across the Fitzsimmons Valley toward Blackcomb. It is rated 4.9/5 from more than 450 reviews, from $134.
Glass-bottom cabins
Peak 2 Peak has special glass-bottom cabins. They are fun, but not worth a long wait if you only have a few hours. The normal cabins already have huge panoramic windows.
Summer vs winter
Summer
Best for hiking, alpine flowers, long daylight and exploring both mountains on foot.
Winter
Best for snowy alpine scenery, and for non-skiers who want mountain access.
Is it scary?
The cabins are fully enclosed and feel stable under normal conditions, but the height can be dramatic. If you dislike heights, skip the wait for the glass-bottom cabin and stand toward the center.
Accessibility
The main gondola network is comparatively accessible, but how accessible the wider mountain day is depends on which lifts are operating, trail surfaces, snow and the specific high-alpine facilities.
Can you do it from Vancouver in one day?
Yes, but travel directly to Whistler and give the mountain at least 3–4 hours. It is a poor fit for a guided tour that offers only a short village stop; our Sea to Sky Gondola and Whistler day trip guide explains why.
If you would rather not drive, the private Peak 2 Peak winter tour from Vancouver on Viator includes hotel pickup and the Peak 2 Peak ticket. It is rated 4.7/5, but from only 10 reviews, and is priced from $477. For a private day that you plan yourself, compare our private Whistler tours.
Peak 2 Peak + Sea to Sky Gondola in one day?
Technically possible, but usually not recommended. Both deserve several hours. Pick one main mountain experience unless you are staying longer. The Sea to Sky Gondola guide covers the other one.
Best route in summer
A satisfying circuit is:
Whistler Village Gondola → Whistler Mountain → Peak 2 Peak → Blackcomb Mountain → Blackcomb Gondola → Upper Village → walk back to Whistler Village
This gives you different scenery on the way up and on the way down, without retracing the same route.
FAQ
Is Peak 2 Peak open in October 2026?
No. It is closed between the summer and winter seasons.
When does winter sightseeing return?
It is scheduled for November 20, 2026, subject to operations.
Do non-skiers use it in winter?
Yes, with winter sightseeing tickets.
How long is the crossing?
About 11 minutes.
How high is it?
Up to about 436 meters above the valley floor.
The bottom line
Peak 2 Peak is often sold as an engineering spectacle, but the best reason to buy a ticket is the mountain access it connects.
If you simply cross once and go straight back down, the price can feel steep. If you use it to explore both Whistler and Blackcomb, it makes far more sense.
